OM2 Multimode Duplex Patch Cords FAQ
OM2 multimode dual-core fiber optic patch cable is a kind of fiber optic patch cable for short distance optical signal transmission, which adopts OM2 multimode fiber (62.5/125μm) and dual-core structure, and is usually equipped with fiber optic connectors such as LC, SC, ST, etc. at both ends.
It is suitable for short distance data transmission, such as local area network (LAN), data center, security monitoring, fiber to the desktop (FTTD) and other scenarios.
The main difference is the fiber type and transmission performance:
Fiber type: 62.5/125μm for OM2, 50/125μm for OM3/OM4.
Transmission performance: OM3/OM4 has better bandwidth and transmission distance than OM2, which is suitable for higher speed and longer distance transmission.
You need to consider the following factors when choosing:
Connector type: Select LC, SC, ST, etc. according to equipment interface.
Patch cord length: Select the appropriate length according to the actual demand.
Sheath material: Choose PVC, LSZH, etc. according to the environment.
Brand and quality: Choose famous brand to ensure reliable quality.
Attention is needed when using:
Bending radius: Avoid excessive bending to prevent fiber damage.
Clean end face: Keep the connector end face clean to avoid signal attenuation.
Avoid pulling: Avoid excessive pulling to prevent fiber breakage.
The price is affected by brand, length, connector type, etc. It is usually cheaper than OM3/OM4 patch cords, suitable for projects with limited budget.
